심시티 모바일은 1편의 탑뷰 시점에서 쿼터뷰 시점으로 달라졌고, 인터페이스를 좀 뜯어고쳤으며 그래픽과 사운드의 대폭적인 개선이 이루어졌다. 쿼터뷰인 덕분에 시야를 회전해서 도시 이곳저곳을 구경하는 것도 가능하다. 시스템적인 면으로도 많은 개선이 이루어져 후에 나오는 시리즈들의 기초를 구축했다.
